The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2024: Financing to End Hunger, Food Insecurity, and Malnutrition in All Its Forms

The FAO has recently published “The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2024: Financing to End Hunger, Food Insecurity, and Malnutrition in All Its Forms.”

With just six years left until 2030, global hunger and food insecurity trends are not on track to meet SDG Target 2.1. The same is true for global nutrition targets under SDG Target 2.2. Despite billions of people lacking access to nutritious, safe, and sufficient food, there is hope, as progress in many countries shows the possibility of reversing current trends.

Key Highlights:

🔹 Financing for Food Security and Nutrition: The report provides a much-needed definition and guidance for implementing financing for food security and nutrition.

🔹 Innovative Financing Tools: Recommendations for the efficient use of innovative financing tools and necessary reforms in the food security and nutrition financing architecture.

🔹 Tracking and Measurement: Establishing methods for tracking, measuring, and implementing financing flows to end hunger, food insecurity, and malnutrition.
